David LaForge

David was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan.  He attended Kalamazoo College and graduated in 1981.  He attended law school at University of San Francisco School of Law and graduated in 1984. 

David was a Law Clerk for the Michigan Supreme Court, Justice James H. Brickley, in the years 1984 to 1986.  During this work, David worked on research of a variety of issues before the Michigan Supreme Court.  

David moved to Berrien County in 1986 to begin work at the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.  David worked in the Appellate Division of the Prosecutor’s Office from 1986 to 1990.     


Since 1990, David has been in private practice.  His practice areas have included civil litigation, family law, bankruptcy, collection cases and criminal law.  For the past 10 years, David has focused his practice on the areas of family law, bankruptcy and criminal law. David is a member of the Michigan State Bar Association, Berrien County Bar Association, State Bar Family Law Section.  He is admitted to practice in the Federal Court for the Western District of Michigan, as well as the Michigan Court of Appeals and Supreme Court. 

David’s philosophy of handling the various cases he litigates is to take common sense straight forward approach to receive a fair and just settlement for the client.  Only the most difficult cases need to be tried and in that event, David believes in firmly and aggressively representing his clients.
David resides in St. Joseph with his two sons.
